One of the most prolific of all watches produced in the USSR, manufactured in the Petrodvorets Watch Factory is Pobeda. After WWII, the factory began producing Pobeda watches, which in Russian means ‘Victory.’ The mission was to produce a watch that symbolizes the willpower and heroism of the Russian people. Watches were produced as awards for special exploits, sporting, and military. The popularity of Pobeda watches skyrocketed quickly, as one of its watches became the first to travel in space! It flew onboard the Sputnik 4 spaceship, launched into space on March 9, 1961. Out of all the watches produced in the USSR, Pobeda remains the most prolific as it represents the essence of Soviet watchmaking.
